About “Something
Special” In August 2006, Karen Sweeney made a life changing decision after 23 years of working in a stressful job as managing director of a training company. Karen decided it was time to pursue a new career, one that gave her the opportunity to use more of her artistic and creative skills in a calm and stress-free environment. Once the decision was made there was no turning back and a new business began. That business is “Something Special”. “Something Special” speaks for itself. In her new role as a freelance florist, Karen is never happier than when she is providing individual and imaginative work for discerning people who are looking for something that is just a little bit different. Whether it is for a special event, a special person in your life or to present a specific image for your business, Karen cares enough about you not to disappoint. Working peacefully in the surrounds of her beautiful home on the outskirts of Ashford in Kent, Karen takes inspiration from everything around her. No arrangement is ever the same as the last; each one is individual in style, colour, texture and movement, using fresh and out of the ordinary flower materials. Karen’s influences come from a lifetime of living in the countryside; she combines her great love of nature, flowers, plants and trees with a natural artistic flair for design, shape and colour. "I feel incredibly lucky to be doing something I truly love: to be working from home for regular customers or on new commissions helping customers to express what they want to say with flowers. "Using only the freshest flowers, armed with ideas that have been discussed or recently come to mind, and with some much loved music in the background – then the creation begins!"
